Vacation Pictures: West Lake in Hangzhou, China

My four week vacation last month included an 8-day trip to Shanghai and surrounding cities in China.

Here are pictures from the famous West Lake in the city of Hangzhou.

I was here October 10th, 2010

Do you see the fish in the water?

We went on a really nice, relaxing boat ride on the lake

Do you see the three figures in the water that form a triangle?

This picture was drawn and used on the back of China's 1 Yuan note.

Our tour guide Jamie is holding China's 1 Yuan note

The heavy smog in China makes for an even more beautiful "misty" effect by the lake , don't you think?

In the picture above, you can see the Leifeng pagoda in the distance on the hillside , which is one of the ten sights of West Lake.

The West Lake was very beautiful, calming and picturesque.

I feel like it would be a perfect inspiration to start watercolour painting...even though I'm not artistically inclined LOL

Are you artistically inclined?
