CNN Anchor Aware Of Risks In Coming Out, And Tell-All Book

Posted: 16 May 2011 11:15 AM PDT

Don Lemon Has Brave Book

Very few reporters and anchors have come out as being gay to the public while still performing their duties. Not only that, but even fewer have written books about their lives in a completely open fashion, despite fears of being shunned and public backlash.

This is what makes Don Lemon so inspirational.

It might have taken him 45 years (he looks much younger, mind you!) to come out publicly (literally to the public, close friends and family have known, including some coworkers at CNN), but he is not holding back any longer. His book tell of his struggle as a gay man reporting the news in the public eye, and having been molested as a child. Nothing is too personal.

And it took him a while to come to that point, there were definitely hesitations. But, as a reporter through and through, he felt it was his duty to hold himself, his own story, to that journalistic standard and give everyone the whole, unfiltered story:

"I'm scared. I'm talking about something that people might shun me for, ostracize me for. It's quite different for an African-American male. It's about the worst thing you can be in black culture. You're taught you have to be a man; you have to be masculine. In the black community they think you can pray the gay away.

I abhor hypocrisy. I think if you're going to be in the business of news, and telling people the truth, of trying to shed light in dark places, then you've got to be honest. You've got to have the same rules for yourself as you do for everyone else."

We are definitely behind you 100% in your decision to write this book. The strength it has taken to do so can't be calculated, and we support you!

Not only that, but, it's wonderful to hear that you support others in the gay community coming out:

"I think it would be great if everybody could be out. But it's such a personal choice. People have to do it at their own speed. I respect that. I do have to say that the more people who come out, the better it is for everyone, certainly for the Tyler Clementis of the world."

We hear that, Don. It was such a tragedy what happened to Tyler, who tragically committed suicide after his roommate leaked footage of a homosexual encounter on the web.

You truly are someone to look up to, and we applaud you! Hope the book, Transparent, does well!

Trump NOT Running For President!

Donald Trump Not Running

While the Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert jokes would have been absolutely HIGHlarious, we think it's pretty good news that Donald Trump has announced that he will NOT be running for the Republican nomination.

Here's some of what he said in his just released statement:

"After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the Presidency. This decision does not come easily or without regret; especially when my potential candidacy continues to be validated by ranking at the top of the Republican contenders in polls across the country. I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election. I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector."

Wait, what polls does he think he's continually at the top of for Republican contenders? Last we checked, that was just not true. But, we digress.

This is great news for those who seriously want to run under the Republican party. A Trump run would have just taken away critical votes without a real chance of him getting the nom. He did say this at the end of his statement, however, and we really do respect it:

"I look forward to supporting the candidate who is the most qualified to help us tackle our country's most important issues and am hopeful that, when this person emerges, he or she will have the courage to take on the challenges of the Office and be the agent of change that this country so desperately needs."

That's definitely the way to bow out respectfully, and we really like that he takes the time to mention "he or she," recognizing that a woman candidate would hold his support if she were the most qualified! Good for him. It really does all come down to qualification — not sex, or even sexual preference!

Either way, it's time to focus on the issues, and focus on electing (or, perhaps, Re-Electing) the right person for the job!

Good luck to all the soon-to-be-official candidates!

Does this news make U happy??

PS: You can read Trump's full statement after the jump.

The Statement:

After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the Presidency. I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election. I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.

I want to personally thank the millions of Americans who have joined the various Trump grassroots movements and written me letters and e-mails encouraging me to run. My gratitude for your faith and trust in me could never be expressed properly in words. So, I make you this promise: that I will continue to voice my opinions loudly and help to shape our politician's thoughts. My ability to bring important economic and foreign policy issues to the forefront of the national dialogue is perhaps my greatest asset and one of the most valuable services I can provide to this country. I will continue to push our President and the country's policy makers to address the dire challenges arising from our unsustainable debt structure and increasing lack of global competitiveness. Issues, including getting tough on China and other countries that are methodically and systematically taking advantage of the United States, were seldom mentioned before I brought them to the forefront of the country's conversation. They are now being debated vigorously. I will also continue to push for job creation, an initiative that should be this country's top priority and something that I know a lot about. I will not shy away from expressing the opinions that so many of you share yet don't have a medium through which to articulate.

I look forward to supporting the candidate who is the most qualified to help us tackle our country's most important issues and am hopeful that, when this person emerges, he or she will have the courage to take on the challenges of the Office and be the agent of change that this country so desperately needs.

Thank you and God Bless America!

Celebrity Apprentice To Continue With Or Without The Donald

Posted: 16 May 2011 10:14 AM PDT

the-apprentice-will-continue-without-trump.jpg

With many speculating Donald Trump will run for President, NBC is assuring fans of Celebrity Apprentice that the show will go on.

NBC's chairman of entertainment, Bob Greenblatt, revealed:

"It's such a strong franchise, not to minimize his presence in it because we love him. But I really do think it's all about the casting of that show and the challenges and if he's not available to us, we're going to have someone really interesting sitting at the head of that boardroom"

Even if Trump is too busy, Ivanka or Donald Jr. could always fill in we think.

As for those rumors that The Donald would announce on his show's season finale if he's running in 2012, that's not happening.

A NBC executive has denied that stating the finale was already pre-taped this past November.

Would U watch Celebrity Apprentice if Trump was no longer on the show?

Audrina's Boyfriend Arrested For Public Intoxication, Parties The Next Day

Audrina's Boyfriend Arrested Before Party, Still Parties

You gotta admire his enthusiasm!

Just kidding. Honestly, if you're picked up for public intoxication in the wee hours before the weekend, spending a few hours in jail, and being bailed out for $500 bucks, maybe you should take the weekend off from partying. Seems like the better idea to us, though we suppose if responsibility were the name of the game, the arrest wouldn't have happened in the first place!

Audrina Patridge's on again/off again boyfriend, Corey Bohan, was arrested by the Hermosa Beach Police Department in California Friday morning. Then, he was in Vegas to celebrate her 26th birthday at Wet Republic at the MGM Grand on Saturday afternoon.

If you're doing the math, that's only a few hours after being bailed out of jail!

Doesn't quite seem like the responsible person we'd like to be with, Audrina! Maybe after all this on/off stuff with him this could be your sign to trade up for a better model??

We'd hate for you to get sucked into that kind of conduct!

Corey, maybe you should view this as a chance to take it down a notch?? Just sayin'!

America's Most Wanted Cancelled!

Posted: 16 May 2011 09:30 AM PDT

1americas-most-wanted-cancelled.jpg

It's the end of an era!

First ABC cancelled its soap operas and now Fox is cancelling America's Most Wanted.

The series, which has been on the air since 1988, announced just a few years ago the capture of its 1,000th criminal. That's contribution enough!

But have no fear, the show won't be gone completely.

Fox will air four, two-hour quarterly specials through the year as well as air repeats.

As for the reason behind the removal? Profits of course.

Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly revealed:

"John Walsh has been an important guy at network for a long time. It's been an important show for us historically. We haven't made money on the show in quite awhile. It wasn't particularly viable. We wanted to keep the franchise alive. John is having conversations about ways to keep the series alive.

We're going to be in originals across our schedule. We want to be able to play repeats to give the audience a chance to catch up and that's one of the few places we can do that."

What do U think of the cancellation?

Things are really happening for Obama HOPE artist Shepard Fairey!

Back in January, not only did Shepard settle a lawsuit with the Associated Press, but AP agreed to work with him while moving forward with plans for the Barack Obama HOPE image.

THEN, Fairey helped deface/enhance a self-portrait of Stephen Colbert, which sold for $26,000!

Now, Shepard Fairey has used his street art skills in Death Cab for Cutie's Home is a Fire music video (above).

Things are def looking up for Shepard! Should be inneresting to see who he collaborates with next!

What do U think of Shepard Fairey's contribution to Death Cab's new video? Impressed?
