Jungle ATV trekking in Malaysia

You know those in-flight magazines that most of us (ah hem, moi) ignore?

Well, on my 15+ hour flight from Toronto to Hong Kong I took a look at the magazine and found something called ATV Adventure Park.

The company offers tours through a bamboo jungle and you ride ATVs on the tour!
Plus, it's only about a 40 minute drive from Kuala Lumpur where I was staying.
The jungle is near the zoo, in an area called Hulu Kelang

So one of my cousins wanted to take me shopping....and I said "No! I wanna ATV through a jungle" and so she came with me :)

My cousin and I had a private tour since nobody else booked that day (it was a weekday in October).
This was our guide Halem

That's me! Standing beside the ATV my cousin took....I ended up with a blue ATV

Oh and that was my permanent hairstyle in Asia hehe Whaaaat? It was so hot outside!

There's my cousin May on her ATV.

The fallen branches and such on the pathway make it more fun!

Left to right: myself & my cousin May

See how tall the bamboo in perspective when May is standing there?

Do you see that cool tree trunk on the left with like leaves growing up the bark in a cool pattern?

Our tour stopped a small waterfall.
The waterfall had several steps - 7 steps in total so you only see 1 step here.

So I took an unexpected visitor back to the car....I saw blood on my sock and I knew it was a leech because if I had cut myself, I would have felt it. Know what? The leech had fallen off in my cousin's car after feeding on me.

BUT that leech didn't stop me even though (1) I am terrified of insects (2) I'm a big city girl and my parents and relatives thought I wouldn't be able to handle it in the jungle LOL

So...a few days later, I convinced my cool cousin Sue Ann and a whole group of her friends to come out again with me :) It was awesome!!! When I go back to KL, I'm taking the longer trek that's 3-4 hours long. You can view the package tours here.
I did Package B to start, which I would advise if you're a beginner.

Halem was my guide again! My cousin Sue Ann is third from left

So I absolutely recommend the ATV jungle trek if you're a slight bit adventurous and you're in Kuala Lumpur. I'll for sure be going again on my next trip ;)

Have you been on an ATV before?

Batu Caves in Malaysia

Other than clubbing with my cool cousin Sue Ann, I did a couple of other fun things in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

One of them was visiting the Batu Caves on October 14th 2010

The front...see the stairs up ahead with the tiny people on it?

The statue in front of the caves is of Lord Muruga. It's 42.7 metres high.

That's me!!! It was very hot by the way....gosh, I'm sweating just thinking about the humidity there

This would be okay if it weren't so darn hot outside LOL

These are macaque monkeys which are common at the caves. They can be vicious though!

Me at the entrance after climbing that flight of stairs :)

Do you see how there's another opening up ahead if you walk inside?

Yes, another flight of stairs to the other opening

It's gorgeous don't you think?

Can you imagine - some of this limestone is around 400 million years old.
I can't even grasp the concept of that amount of time!

The decent down is always more difficult than climbing up for me.

I was really happy to check out the Batu Caves.

I know for people living in Kuala Lumpur, the caves is no big deal - kinda like Niagara Falls or CN Tower for Torontonians like myself. My aunt who lives in KL didn't think much of the caves. She even tried to talk me out of it a bit by warning that it's smelly in the caves LOL - from the bat droppings. But you know what? I went to Batu Caves after my Shanghai trip....and oh man, if you can brave the public washrooms in Shanghai, you can do anything. The caves smelt like Febreze compared to some parts of China. No f*ing joke.

There is a dark cave tour that you can pay separately for btw, however that part of the cave was shut closed when I went or else I would have done it!
Is Batu Caves a place you'd like to visit?
Have you been here or to a similar place?

Air Jordan Cement Box Returns in 2011

So it appears as if somethings might be on the rise yet again for Jordan Brand. It has been one of the most talked about things when it comes to Jordan's over the last few years....when will we see a different box? Well, for those OG heads out there that go way back and even lovers of Jordans current day will respect this blast from the past.

Below are early shots of a possible remake of the early 90's box tops that Jordan's use to come packaged in. Expect to see a little twist from Jordan with some of the 2011 releases. We personally can't wait until they start doing this! So for all of you all that paid a higher premium just to get the shoes 2-3months earlier just might be kickin yourself....or maybe not. Let us know.

Autopsy of the Nike Dunk Pro SB

This video hit the web almost a week ago and is currently catching a ton of attention. Nike SB line is really stepping their quality control game up for 2011. Even thought the only changes we've seen so far is adding zoom air and a cushioned tongue, Nike we are sure is going to have some tricks up their sleeves. Check out the video below and peep the pictures of the new Dunk Pro that will release sometime in January of 2011. We will keep the streets posted.

Vacation Beach Pictures Part 2: Laguna Redang Resort

You know when a picture doesn't do the place justice?

Well this is one such place.

I literally cried when I had my last stroll on this beach on my previous trip mid October 2010. I have never cried from leaving a place before.

Laguna Redang is just so beautiful - the beach, the snorkelling trips, the marine life, the staff & the lifeguards that I befriended which were sooo kind to me :) I've even kept in touch with one of the lifeguards and I hope to make a trip back here in the next year or two.

I woke up extra early with my Dad so I could watch the sunrise ;)

You know, between this beach in Malaysia and the mountains out in Western Canada, I cannot chose which I am more in love with.

What's the most beautiful place you've been to? Why? Was it the scenery, the people, the food...?
